Buy gas via Chevy radio

In what it termed the first “embedded in-dash fuel payment system,” General Motors announced that it will allow the purchase of gas through its radios in about 1 million Chevrolet vehicles in a test program at select Shell stations in Detroit, Seattle and Houston metro regions.

It plans to roll out the feature to over 4 million vehicles through OnStar.  And Shell plans to expand the service to stations nationwide.

Drivers will be able to press an icon on the radio screen as part of the GM Marketplace app, select a gas station and receive a code to activate the gas pump.

The Marketplace app is available in select 2017 model year and newer Chevy vehicles.
