Two spare tire subwoofers made their debut during the CES show this month from JBL and Cerwin-Vega Mobile.  They both drop into the spare tire in a vehicle and are easily removed when you need to access the tire.

Both are powered subwoofers at prices close to $400.

Cerwin Vega Mobile’s new VPAS12ST is in a sealed cast aluminum enclosure.  It drops into the spare tire.  You hook up wires and “you are good to go,” said Cerwin.  It is rated at 150 watts RMS and it is expected to ship at the end of the first quarter at $379.99.

The JBL BassPro Hub is an 11 inch powered subwoofer that mounts inside 15 inch or larger spare tires.   It has a built-in Class D amplifier delivering 200 watts.  It has a quick release feature and it comes with a wired remote control for gain, phase and frequency control.  The BassPro Hub is due in late spring at an expected street price of $399.
