Alpine Electronics announced at CES a new digital signal processor with advanced wireless smartphone control.

The PXE-0850S is Alpine’s first new processor in six or seven years.   Via Bluetooth, it can be used without a head unit for audio streaming in UTVs or other vehicles.

Users can level match and tune their car audio system via Bluetooth or a PC.  On a smartphone, they get a detailed views of all inputs and outputs and a 31 band equalizer.

Users can set time correction and crossovers via smartphone over Bluetooth.  They can also boost OEM audio with the DSP’s built in 25 watt 8 amplifier.

The PXE-O850S is a 6 channel processor due in March at $699.

Additional specifications:

  • 6 channel high/low voltage inputs (up to 10 volts) for factory and aftermarket installations
  • 24-bit Sigma-Delta D/A converter
  • 32-bit floating point DSP
  • High pass/low pass crossovers per channel
  • Time correction; up to 20ms delay per channel
  • 12 channel full range 4 volt pre-outs
  • S/PDIF optical input
  • Remote controller included (volume, store, store/recall, source selection)
