The famed “Cadillac mirror” that can show a rear video feed behind the car to eliminate blind spots is now shipping to car audio retailers through distributor VOXX Electronics.

Called the Gentex Aftermarket Full Display Mirror, it doubles as a standard auto-dimming rear view mirror, but with the flip of a lever, it shows HD video from behind the car. So if adult passengers are in the back obstructing your rear view, or if you have large packages in the back seat, or if the car’s headrests or pillars block your mirror view, there is now a way to get an unobstructed rear view.

Gentex says the mirror doubles the rear view area of a typical mirror. VOXX calls it the first “hybrid rear vision system.”

The mirror’s LCD display has a resolution of 1280 x 275. In video mode it “provides streaming HD video at 60fps for optimal rear vision,” said VOXX. It also integrates HomeLink car-to-home automation, providing three buttons that can be programmed to operate garage doors, security gates, home lighting and more.

The Gentex mirror has a suggested retail price of $1,199.

Heavily advertised in Cadillac TV ads by General Motors, the mirror is offered on the Cadillac CT6 and XT5, the Chevy Bolt and Cadillac Escalade.

VOXX announced at CES in January that it became the exclusive distributor of the Full Display Mirror.
