Alpine Status Drop-In Speakers

Alpine (Alps Alpine North America) is now shipping the last of its new Status line components– three OEM-Fit speakers that work in factory openings.

The speakers were developed especially for Hi-Res Audio playback and have an an ultra wide bandwidth of 55Hz – 40kHz.   All are 6.5-inch models  and include a 3-way component set, the HDZ-653S; a two-way component set, the HDZ-65CS and a coaxial speaker set, the HDZ-65.

Alpine’s new Status system also includes a $1,400 media player, $2,400 Hi-Res digital signal processor and $800 to $900 amplifiers and speakers that are already shipping.

The Status line was first announced in March as a more affordable version of Alpine’s ultra high end F#1Status system that starts at about $35,000 and handles unprecedented 384kHz/32bit Hi-Res Audio.  By contrast, the Status products can handle Hi-Res Audio at 192kHz/24bit playback.

The new drop in speakers range from about $550 to $1,000 in price.

The HDZ-653S includes a 6.5” mid-bass driver, a 3.5” midrange driver, and a 1” slim-fit, high-range driver. The HDZ-65CS includes a 6.5” mid-bass driver and a 1” slim-fit, high-range driver. The HDZ-65 includes a 6.5” mid-bass driver and 1” coaxial tweeter.

The speakers also use a proprietary double gathered edge surround for lower distortion. And they use a unified carbon composite cone.
