Proposed Law Would Impound Boom Cars

Proposed State Law to Impound Boom Cars

Legislation has been proposed by New Jersey lawmakers that would require state municipalities to impound “boom” cars, reported TapintoPaterson.

Vehicles found in violation would be impounded for at least 7 days.  For a second offense, the penalty would increase to 14 days plus a $750 fine.

The law targets vehicles whose sound systems are “plainly audible” at a distance of 50 feet or more from the car or truck.

One of the bill’s authors, Senator Troy Singleton (D-Burlington/Camden), said, “It’s no secret that ‘boom car’ parties have negatively affected the quality of life in towns up and down the Delaware River for years…” reported TapintoPaterson.

Lucas Lighting Debuts Super Bright Headlight Bulb

Lucas Lighting showed one of the brightest LED headlight bulbs to date at the recent GoFast distributor show.

At 24,000 lumens, the new Lucas L5 is 30 percent brighter than the current Lucas L4 bulb. It is also more compact so it’s easier to fit into headlight housing.

Shipping is expected in November.

“The L5 has the most output for the least amount of physical size.  It is heat and electrically efficient, and only draws .1 to .2 more amp current than the L4 at 20,000 lumens,” said VP Sales Steve Rogers.  The retail price is expected to be $399/pair.

BMW to Offer In-Car Gaming

BMW announced on Tuesday it will offer video gaming directly on its infotainment screen in new BMW vehicles.

It has teamed with AirConsole, a gaming platform that fits with the auto maker’s curved display.  The games will run directly inside the vehicle’s entertainment system, and games can be delivered to the vehicle instantly over-the-air.

To set up and control the games requires a smartphone, which becomes the game controller.

AirConsole and BMW plan to offer a wide variety of single and multiplayer games. “This will make every waiting situation inside the vehicle, such as charging, an enjoyable moment,” said Stephan Durach, Senior VP BMW Group Connected Company Development.

  1. Impound them and jail time is obviously not enough with the comments I’ve seen. It’s not ok to blast your music loud enough for the whole damn neighborhood to hear it, consequently, it’s not ok for you to drive up next to someone with it so loud they can hear it in their car even with their own music playing. The problem is people think that they can do, and say whatever they want to. Criminals breaking the law, and then complaining that they’ve been treated wrongly. It’s a joke!

  2. Yes, that clearly is the largest issue / concern in New Jersey law makers should be focusing on at this point in time.

    1. It will never happen. Always wondered why loud exhaust motorcycle riders got away with that. You can hear them blocks away

  3. Impound BOOM cars “plainly audible”…? I am reminded of a legislator responding to a request to “define pornography”. His response: “well son, I can’t define pornography, BUT I know it when I see it”. I don’t suppose politicians will ever learn.
