Rydeen Mobile Electronics said it is now shipping a new microwave based BSS1 blind spot detection system, offering greater accuracy than typical ultrasound sensor-based models.
It alerts drivers when a car is in the blind zone. It includes GPS so the system doesn’t activate until the car reaches 20 mph to avoid false alerts.
“The potential for false alerts typically occurs at speeds below 20 mph such as driving in parking lots or bumper to bumper traffic,” said Bob Goodman Rydeen’s Director of Sales & Marketing. “The other advantage to our system is …installers may deselect the GPS function and unlike other systems it’s not limited to CAN bus equipped vehicles.”
The system works in all cars except those with metal bumpers.
The two microwave sensors mount behind the bumper eliminating any drilling into the body of the vehicle.
Visual alerts are displayed with mini LED icons installed on each A pillar and an audible alert is available with a compact speaker mounted behind or under the dashboard. Suggested retail price is $599.
Rydeen is also showing at CES a new MINy series backup camera with movable, curving parking guidelines. The camera has a built in gyroscope that enables the view to change as you steer the vehicle. The CM-APL Trajectory Camera is shipping now at $169.
Both products will be on view at CES in booth #6127, North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, January 5-8.
