Mike COfield, CEO of 20-store Custom Sounds & Tint and President of the MESA buying group,  told CEoutlook that he plans to retire.

“I’ve pretty much done all I can do.  I founded both MERA [the former Mobile Electronics Retailer Association, which became the present day Mobile Electronics Association that sponsors KnowledgeFest] and MESA [the Mobile Electronics Specialists of America buying/marketing group]. I built the company [Custom SoundS] into the second largest store count in the USA. I came from nothing and now I’m financially independent.”

Cofeeld said, “It’s time for me to pursue my life’s dream. My wife Tracey is totally supportive.”

Cofeild helped start Custom Sounds & Tint in 1987, along with Bert Linda, a successful banker who taught the young entrepreneur about corporate business practices.  The plan was to run Custom Sounds as one would a major corporation.

After many years at the helm of the car audio chain and a business leader in the 12 volt industry, Cofield said he would like to pursue one of his other life’s goals.

“I’ve always wanted to pursue my dream,” said Cofield. “It’s important to dream.”

When asked what that might be, Cofield explained, “Ever since I was a child, I always dreamed of being a ‘BEFORE’ model.”

Huh?

Cofield literally texted yours truly at CEoutlook with this very same “news” and I almost fell for it.  We decided to pass it on to you.

Happy April Fool’s y’all !
