Nakamichi Enters Hi-Res Audio

Nakamichi Hi-Res DSP

Nakamichi announced at SEMA 2021 a Hi-Res Audio certified digital signal processor/amplifier that is expected to be the first of more Hi-Res products for the brand.

Shipping late this month, the new NDST500A is a 12-channel DSP using proprietary software that can be programmed via a PC. It will carry the Hi-Res Audio logo, available only to members of the Japan Audio Society, Nakamichi claimed.

Nakamichi expects to offer other Hi-Res certified products in the future, although it did not offer further details.

The NDST500A DSP includes an Analog Devices ADAU1452 audio processing IC.  It is expected to carry a retail price in the ballpark range of $1,000.

High-resolution audio is a term for audio with greater than a 44.1 kHz sample rate or higher than 16-bit audio bit depth. It commonly refers to 96 or 192 kHz sample rates.

Nakamichi is displaying at SEMA 2021 in Las Vegas at Booth #12465  in the North Hall  of the Las Vegas Convention Center, November 2-5.
