VOXX to Wind Down Code Alarm

VOXX Electronics said it will “wind down” its role in the Code Alarm remote start/security brand. After the upcoming remote start season, VOXX expects to offer Code Alarm through an exclusive distributor, who will be announced at a later date.

Those wishing to continue carrying the Code Alarm brand will work through the distributor.

At present, VOXX is selling through inventory, although it expects that inventory will “wind down” about three quarters through the season, said Aron Demers, Senior VP VOXX Electronics.

Since VOXX purchased Directed a year ago, it acquired many remote start/security brands and so it was necessary to evaluate the various brands, said Demers.

Security/remote start brands under the VOXX umbrella now include Viper, Clifford, Python, Avital, AstroStart, AutoStart, AutoMate, Prestige, Pursuit, Code Alarm, Omega and Crime Stopper.

VOXX will offer service parts to handle warranty returns for the foreseeable future.  Down the road, if service parts are no longer available, “we will send [the customer] a  like model for replacement in either the DEI or VOXX lines,” said Demers.

  1. UK here, I used Code as my entry level via a previous importer, awful programming but bullet proof and great range.
DS4 not available and from what I’ve seen it’s plagued with issues.
I’m privately importing Compustar product (I have an OP-500 and Weblink updater, superb product and they cost me less than DEI through the official UK importer.

  2. I agree, I’ve done Code for a million years, they should have dumped Crimestopper, stuff is junk anyways… I’ll miss Code! Maybe I’ll do Compustar out of spite lol

    1. Code is a strong fail proof. Crime stopper and other products have tons of issues bunch of junk. Only thing with Compustar is that me you compete with the shop down the street that sells the same stuff. What makes one shop better than other selling the same stuff.

  3. Voxx has too many security brands as it is. With the recent addition of DEI and all the tech and ability that comes with it, why do they even need the Code brand or even a few other brands they own? I think the industry as a whole could use some brand thinning and not just in the security category.

  4. Just so sad as Code has been a non fail product and now Voxx has made their choice to let Viper run their main lines which has tons of issues and is not true quality. Such a bad choice and could have pulled other lines but not a brand that is strong. Cannot and will never support Any or the DEI/viper line. So angry. The sole purpose is to install a product that on average has no issues and now you are deprecating an amazing line for viper junk.
