Precision Power Moves Upscale

Precision Power Vertical Amplifier

Precision Power is going upscale as parent company Epsilon wants to return the brand to its original luster, and make it the premier brand for Epsilon.

The company is shipping a new line of PowerClass Vertical Amplifiers that use Japanese and German parts, versus Chinese components, said Epsilon.  The 5 amplifiers use  WIMA resistors and premium capacitors from Germany and SANKEN Transistors from Japan.

The amplifiers are also vertical to save trunk space or enable installation behind seats in a pickup truck and in other challenging locations.

Product development manager Brandon Meyer says the PowerClass series are the highest quality amplifiers produced by Epsilon to date.

The move upscale follows the brand’s shift to a dealer direct model last year, and a Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) policy. MAP prices on the new line range from $319.99 to $449.99.

“We’re trying to go back to the days of old, taking on that persona of the original PPI [Precision Power].  We just ran tests on our 4 x 100 amplifier and it dyno’d out at 147 watts a channel. These amplifiers are overproducing as far as power goes,” said Epsilon VP Sales Ronnie Brashear.

He added, “The vertical angle is it takes up less trunk space; vehicles aren’t getting any bigger.”

The iON series, including speakers and amplifiers are next in line for an upgrade, as the full PPI line will be upgraded in quality, he said.

  1. The proof is in the pudding! I used PPI for many years, but it would take A LOT to make me want to have them in my store after the years of abuse that has been done to the brand. They are not much better than SoundStream IMO, and the brand name doesn’t hold water currently!
