A new McIntosh Laboratory luxury audio OEM system will be offered in the all-new 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, which offers three rows of seating.

The McIntosh MX950 Entertainment System is available in the Overland and Summit models and comes standard in the Summit Reserve Package.  It was exclusively designed for Jeep, said McIntosh.

Jeep and McIntosh collaborated prior to this on a concept Grand Wagoneer vehicle, unveiled in September, and McIntosh has in the past offered aftermarket car audio systems (in the 1990s) and systems for a special edition Ford GT and Harley-Davidson (in the 2000s).  In August, Alps Alpine announced that it is working with the McIntosh Group to deliver either McIntosh or Sonus faber OEM car audio to select vehicles.

But this is the only use of the McIntosh MX950.  It has 19 speakers in 12 locations and a 17-channel amplifier that delivers up to 950 watts of power.  The company said,

“The system has LD/HP® speaker design to lower distortion and McIntosh Power Guard® for unrivaled clarity even at very high-volume levels. The most advanced materials technologies were used to make components lighter, yet stronger, so speakers respond faster in delivering timely sonic reproduction. The occupants are enveloped in a massive sweet spot to hear music with zero coloration, just as the artist intended.”

The system will arrive in Jeep dealerships in the second quarter of 2021.
