Hertz is shipping its first marine audio amplifier with built-in DSP as part of an aggressive push into the marine audio market.

“The marine business is a huge target for us.  This is the next big growth area for Hertz,” said Elettromedia USA President Phil Bolden.

Hertz parent Elettromedia has also hired new management to head up the OEM side of the marine business, which the company entered four years ago.  It currently sells to boat maker Barletta.

Its new Hertz marine DSP amp was designed with software specifically for the marine market. The 8-channel HMD8 DSP claims an easy to use interface that works with up to three zones of a boat.

It delivers 8 x 85 watts per channel or 4 x 260 watts RMS at 4 ohms.  The unit is marine ready with an enclosure of extruded aluminum and an anti-corrosion-treated printed circuit board.  Street price is $1,399.

Also from Hertz is a new marine radio, model HMR 20, with an IP66 rating, designed to work well in “the most extreme conditions,” said Hertz’s Duane Pilgrim.  It has a 3-inch color display with a round gauge-style mount at a street price of $299.99.

Features include:

– 2 sets of Pre-outs. (1 pr. per zone)
