Sony Electronics continues to build out its Mobile ES, high end audio line. It will double the subwoofers, speakers and amplifiers to be in the lineup this summer, with some models shipping May.
During KnowledgeFest in Las Vegas, Sony announced a total of seven new Mobile ES models.
The Mobile ES line returned to the market last year. It was Sony’s premier line back in the 1990s, and was eventually discontinued until a limited offering began shipping last summer, following years of development. Now Sony is adding the following:
- XS-W122ES: 12” 2-ohm Subwoofer
- XS-W124ES: 12” 4-ohm Subwoofer
- XS-163ES: 6 1/2″ 3-way Component Speakers
- XS-692ES: 6 x 9″ 2-way Component Speakers
- XM-5ES: 5-channel Power Amplifier
- XM-4ES: 4-channel Power Amplifier
- XM-1ES: Mono Power Amplifier
Two of the new amplifiers (XM-5ES and XM-4ES) are Hi-Res Audio compatible. The Class D amplifiers provide a variety of configurations, all at 4 ohms: XM-5ES (100Wx4+450W RMS); XM-4ES (100Wx4 RMS); XM-1ES (600W RMS).
The new amplifiers ship this summer at $999.99, $599.99 and $599.99, respectively.
The subwoofers and component speakers include propriety curved notched surrounds and a five beam design. The subwoofers will ship in May at $299.99 each. The component speakers will ship in July at $599.99 for the 3-way, XS-163ES and $499.99 for the 2-way XS-692ES.
