Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Z Fold 2 Tuesday, offering an improved screen, better hinge and streamlined imaging between screens.

The Z Fold 2’s screen is larger, with more flexibility in moving an image from the cover screen to full screen and even to the back of the cover screen, when in hinged-half-open mode.   (See top image).

The 5G phone opens to 7.6 inches, now using a glass screen rather than plastic.  The hinge (also used on the Z Flip) let you open the screen part way, so the bottom screen serves as a stand for viewing videos on the top screen.  Hinge the screen in a different direction and the video you are playing flips with it.

The new Fold 2, along with Samsung’s new Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra, display at a faster screen refresh at 120Hz.

The Z Fold 2 price tag remains at $2,000.  Preorders start September 2 and official sales start September 18.
