NAV-TV Ilco partner in car key replacement

NAV-TV is offering its dealers an entry into the car key replacement business through its new partnership with Kaba Ilco Corp., the largest US-based manufacturer of key blanks and remote transponders for the automotive aftermarket, said NAV-TV.

Under the partnership, authorized NAV-TV dealers will have access to the complete line of Kaba Ilco automotive Futura key cutting and duplicating machinesKeyfob programming unitsKey Blanks, and Look-Alike Remotes.    NAV-TV dealers in the US will be able to cut, program and clone automotive key fobs and remote controls.

Derek Schmiedl, Vice President of NAV-TV said key cutting can be as profitable as sound damping with some key replacements costing $300.  The program has the added benefit of driving new customers into the stores.

Kaba Ilco and NAV-TV have been running test markets with 12 volt dealers in several states since December 2019. Vik Moolchandani, General Manager of Avenue Sound, NY said, “…We are seeing attachment sales of the key fobs to existing customer tickets, as well as increased foot traffic as a direct result of the category. The key fob programming and key cutting services have opened up a new, high-profit revenue stream for us and we will be adding an additional Ilco system at our Freeport location soon.”

Setup and product training is free and the equipment may be financed and leased.  For dealers that may have an existing key cutting machine and/or key fob programmers, the Ilco key blanks and look-alike remotes may be ordered a-la-cart. According to Ilco, their products are not affected by the Coronavirus parts availability shortage, and may be directly substituted for competing products that may be in limited availability.

NAV-TV and Ilco have worked together in the past, and NAV-TV said it has helped make the key maker aware of 12 volt dealers as a new distribution channel.  Jeff Brown, Account Manager for Ilco said, “Our new partnership with NAV-TV has not only opened our eyes to a brand new channel, but has provided exposure to a new information stream that will no doubt help us in the development of new products…”

NAV-TV representative Phil Chartier and Ilco’s Jeff Brown will be visiting NAV-TV dealers with the Ilco demonstration van throughout the New England and New York area during late April and early May, with additional territories to be announced shortly. To schedule a free product demonstration at your facility, please email Phil at [email protected] for an appointment.
