Some Chevrolet models recently began leaving the factory without certain park assist features that use ultrasonic sensors to alert drivers when they are too close to a car or the curb.
Due to the ongoing semiconductor chip shortages, Chevy has deleted its rear park or rear and front park assistance in some vehicles produced as of a few weeks ago (December 20). These include certain Chevy Silverado, Blazer and Colorado models, reported GM Authority.
This month GM also broadened the range of vehicles shipping without rear park assist, said GM Authority last week. Additional vehicles include the Chevy Camaro, Tahoe, Trailblazer, and Suburban.
As we reported earlier, GM has also removed heated seats and heated steering wheels from many vehicles as a result of chip shortages. In that case, the car maker announced it will provide them on a retrofit basis in Q2. But no announcement has been made yet in retrofitting park assist features at a later date.
