Apple introduced new iPhones including a top of the line iPhone 11 Pro, designed for professional photographers as well as those who want the best product made, said the company.

It has a “Pro” camera system with 3 rear cameras—a 12MP wide camera, a telephoto camera and a 12MP ultra wide camera.   It has 4x optical zoom range and lets users zoom in for a portrait or switch to an ultra wide angle for a landscape.

A new feature is Deep Fusion image processing.  It takes 9 images as you press the photo button. Then, in 1 second, the phone’s neural engine analyzes the images, sorting through 24 million pixels to optimize the photo.  “It is computational photo mad science,” said Apple.

All cameras shoot 4K.

The iPhone 11 Pro comes with 5.8- and 6.5-inch screens with faster processing, gaming, and cellular service.  Pricing is $999 for the Pro and $1099 for the larger Pro Max.  Preorders start Friday at 5 am Pacific Day Light time with shipping September 20.

The 11 Pro is joined by a standard iPhone 11 with two rear cameras (instead of the Pro’s 3 rear cameras).  The iPhone 11 also gets the super wide angle mode for better landscape photos.

It has a 6.1-inch liquid retina display. Battery life on the phone improves to an hour more than the iPhone XR. Pricing will start at $699.

Apple also announced a new iPad and Apple Watch and new services.

A 7th generation iPad will replace the 9.7-inch iPad. It moves up to a 10.2-inch screen at a low price of $329.

Apple also announced a new Series 5 Apple Watch, which gets an always-on retina display so the watch face is always visible. You can always see the time and other features such as workout metrics.  It also now gets a built-in compass and international emergency calling without the need for an iPhone. Battery life remains at 18 hours with a starting price of $399 ($499 for cellular models). It will be  in stores September 20. The Series 3 Apple Watch now starts at $199.

In services, Apple revealed that Apple TV+ a previously announced media streaming service, will officially launch November 1 at the price of $4.99/month for a family plan, or as Apple CEO Tim Cook pointed out, the price of single video rental.  One of the Apple TV+ movies is called “See,” with Jason Momoa, who starred in Aquaman.  The trailers for three of the new pre-announced shows have already been viewed over 100 million times, said Cook.  One of those shows is called the Morning Show with Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carell.

Apple also launched a gaming subscription service called Apple Arcade on its App store. It gives users access to 100 exclusive new games that aren’t available on any other platforms or subscription services.  Apple Arcade appears as a new tab on the App store.  It launches September 19 for $4.99 for a family subscription with one month free trial at launch.
