JL Audio at KnowledgeFest last week showed a line of 8 marine audio amplifiers with built-in digital signal processing.
Due to ship in October, the new MVi line is essentially the marine version of JL Audio’s VXi amplifiers with DSP for audio tuning. Users can now tune their system to match their sporting activities whether it be fishing or wakeboarding.
Some of the new amplifiers carry additional inputs/outputs compared to the VXi line, to accommodate the many different zones in boats.
The amplifiers are available in white. They work with new software due from JL Audio for tuning from a phone, laptop or tablet. The units are salt and fog resistant with stainless steel and gold plating.
The line includes two system amplifiers, multichannel models and two mono amplifiers.
“Boat systems can benefit from the same system tuning advantages that have been popular in the automotive market for some time. Using EQ, Delay, Crossover, Signal Routing/Mixing and much more in MVi with integrated DSP, provides the ability to tune the system for individual listening locations and different watersport activities from fishing to wakeboarding or wakesurfing,” said JL Audio Marketing Director Bryatt Fischer.
One of the new models is the MV1000/5i, a 5 channel system amplifier with 24 bit/48Hz processing. Power output is 4 x 75 watt plus 1 x 400 watts at 4 ohms or 4 x 100 watts plus 1 x 600 watts at 2 ohms.
Features include differential balanced inputs, RCA analog pre-outs with independent DSP, and advanced rollback thermal protection.
The line also includes an 8-channel full range amplifier (specs pictured above) in addition to other mono and multi-channel configurations.

Hey Bill, These amps, nor any other JL amp provide “signal summing”. And personally, Im looking forward to hearing every driver’s front wave arrive at the helm in time-corrected fashion. Hate-away if you must… Im going to sell a ton of these.
Time correction, signal summing, and AP filter correction on a boat huh? Cash grab…
I’d say those things were already built info the software, and it would probably take more time and money to code them out than just leave it as is.
Agreed. The tune-ability alone on the software is worth its weight in gold for these boat systems. Especially the guys with tower speakers, about time we give the drunk guy LESS knobs to turn and do away with the dash mount EQ’s.
Does the VXi somehow do away with the volume knob? Does it somehow remove EQ functions on every marine source unit? How does having built-in time correction and signal summing prevent the drunk guy from doing ANYTHING different????? Just drinking that JL kool-aid, or what??
Who said anything about deconstructing the software? When a customer could buy a decent marine amp without DSP for $400-500 less? From the shop owner perspective, sell twice the power/number of speakers with the same budget. Point being, time correction and signal summing are not used on a boat. Why pay for it.
