Italian maker of car audio products, CVD Audio, is an OEM supplier to US audio brands that is now launching its own speaker brand under the name Italia HiFi.
Italia HiFi speakers are hand-built in a factory in Rome and will be offered as a global brand.
The company officially entered the US in August with an office in Dallas. It is in the process of setting up a manufacturer’s rep network.
It will soon add amplifiers and digital signal processors.
The company says it is looking to promote a return to sound quality and hopes to “redefine superior sound quality.” It’s BL5 3-way, 6.5-inch passive component set has a retail price of $3,800 or $3,200 for an active version. Entry level speakers start at $625 suggested retail price. And the company will soon release a top end BL6 system.
Among the features of Italia HiFi are a proprietary blend of fibers that are light and self-damping called Hight-Tight Fiber. The company has also developed a special crystallization process for manufacturing the cones that results in a soft response for the mid frequency “for a correct reproduction of the female voices and yet a good bass response. This kind of cone has a unique tonal balance that is immediately recognizable because very natural,” it said.
CVD Audio also offers a niche speaker and amplifier brand in the US called PHD Audio.
