As many new cars are now shipping without CD players, an opportunity has opened up for aftermarket CD players that connect via USB.  A new version of the USB CD player is now available from Automotive Integration Solutions (AIS), which includes automatic burning of compact discs.

The new AIS USBCDP will work with any vehicle provided it has a USB data-based input (now available on most new vehicles).  The built-in CD burner copies at 3X speed with a capacity of 20 CDs.

It operates by converting a wave file into MP3 format and storing it on removable storage.

The CD player is compact and can be mounted in a glove box, center console or under the seat.  It measures 6” x 6.25” x 1.75” and comes with mounting brackets.  Suggested retail price is $599.

AIS CEO Kelley Vickers said the product is not sold to Internet retailers nor sold on the Internet.

AIS offers a three year warranty for key dealers. AIS can be reached at 800-365-6060 and www.aisinterface.com.

  1. $599!?!?! A decent CD burner is 20 bucks brand new. Add ability to write that data to MicroSD and a slight more rugged case for another $580?!
