Car audio speaker enclosure supplier Atrend is expanding its manufacturing capability to allow dealers and consumers to order a single box.

The new Build-Your-Own program provides a website where dealers and consumers can order subwoofer enclosures to spec, even in quantities of one or two.

In the past, Atrend required production runs in quantities of 20 or more. It has purchased a new CNC machine that allows for the greater flexibility in manufacturing.

Under the Build Your own Program, dealers and consumers go to the Atrend website and input the dimensions of the box they want along with the type of woofers they will be loading.

Atrend says dealers will receive drawing plans and a price quote the day after they submit an inquiry.

Atrend also runs an “X-Pert” program that  allows designers to create products that Atrend will market and sell, even in small quantities.

“With X-pert we want to partner with people who are good on the R&D development side but who don’t have the ability to market and sell the product; who don’t have the network sales resources and marketing tactics.  We’re saying bring us those ideas and we’ll pay you for them, and we’ll go into business together,” said Atrend’s Jason Hundal.

Under the program a partner brings an idea to Atrend, which is vetted and if agreed on, the partner receives a fee.

Atrend claims to have built over a million car audio subwoofer boxes over the last 18 years.  It says sales have been up for the past 6 years.
