Car audio is about to get the kind of exposure to the press that mainstream consumer electronics receives each June at CE Week in New York City.

The Mobile Electronics Association (MEA) will hold a technology show and conference alongside the CE Week show. Called the Connected Car Show, it will be co-located with CE Week at the Jacob Javits Center.

CE Week attracts major media technology writers looking for the latest products and trends. A key focus of the Connected Car Show will be to bring attention and awareness of aftermarket car audio and new products such as aftermarket driver safety to the press.

“It’s a way to get in front of the press and explain what we do.  Also big company buyers come to CE Week for back to school and holiday season, so it’s a big opportunity for that… for our manufacturer partners,” said Chris Cook, President of MEA.

Cook expects a dozen connected car vendors to display at the event to be held June 20 and 21.

The Connected Car Show will include a series of speaker panels on topics such as “Aftermarket upgrades for the vehicle today and in the future,” “What will it take to trust autonomous vehicles,” “Internet-connected vehicles” and “Cybersecurity.”

“If you want to get awareness of our industry out in front of the national media, this is the event to do it,” Cook added.

The Connected Car Show adds to MEA’s KnowledgeFest series of shows geared to educating and training car audio dealers on new technology, installation techniques, marketing and best business practices.

CE Week is run by NAPCO.
