The Elite Distributor Alliance (EDA) announced the addition of a new car audio supplier with an eye toward bringing Hi-Res Audio to a wider audience, it said.
EDA, the sole 12 volt distributor buying group, has partnered with high-end loudspeaker specialist Dynaudio.
At the same time Dynaudio is hard-launching an entry-line of audiophile car audio component systems. Its Esotan series of three component systems was soft-launched about a year ago.
Where Dynaudio’s lowest end component system started at $890 in the past, the Esotan systems start at $499.
Dynaudio will benefit from EDA’s 7,000 retail customers through its distributor network, said Dynaudio CEO Andrew Werdean.
While in home audio Dynaudio operates an established sales and marketing structure, its car audio infrastructure is not as developed and so the company hopes to benefit from the training and service provided by EDA members, said Mike Manousselis, VP Operations North America.
Dynaudio offers three car audio series: Esotan, Esotec, and the flagship Esotar.
The newest Esotan line includes two 2-way and one 3-way component systems that use the same technology, soft dome tweeters, woofer cones and construction design as the higher end lines, said Manousselis.
Dynaudio said its products include “specially coated soft-dome tweeters with powerful neodymium magnet systems for smooth, clear high-frequency reproduction and proprietary MSP (magnesium silicate polymer) woofers with large-diameter aluminum voice coils for greater power handling and lower distortion.”
Dynaudio was purchased about four years ago by GoerTek, a large manufacturer of audio components for phones and tablets and an OEM supplier to VW and Bugatti.
Other EDA vendors in addition to Dynaudio include Kenwood, JVC, Kicker, BrandMotion, ADS, and Heise (Metra Electronics).
