The top selling car radio of any type in dollar sales to consumers was a Pioneer AVH2330NEX in the first quarter, according to The NPD Group.
The 2330NEX, an AV/deck with both CarPlay and Android Auto and 7-inch screen, is selling now on Crutchfield at about $349.99.
Pioneer took almost all of the top 5 best selling radio slots with the exception of the number four position, which went to the Kenwood DMX7704S, a mechless radio with 6.95-inch screen and CarPlay and Android Auto, selling now at about $379.99.
CarPlay continues to prove itself a key radio feature, with all but one of the top 5 radios offering it. Android Auto was found in 3 out of the 5 top selling radios.
We also looked at the top radios for the month of March alone, where Sony made it to the number 5 slot with its original CarPlay and Android Auto model–the XAVAX100. It is a mechless radio with 6.4 inch screen, currently selling at $399.99 at Crutchfield.

you give them more than two choices-they lock up.
Can’t we all just understand? The internet – NOT GOING AWAY!
Do you have a strategy to turn that to your advantage? (or do you not?)
The internet is fine. Giving away the most popular feature on the planet is stupid.
Lets keep driving down prices! CarPlay is the best thing to come along for our industry and now thanks to Pioneer its making it so you have to sell more to less people!.. Not a good plan!
Why count internet sites? Sad, if we keep allowing them to be counted a recognized they will only keep taking profits from the local retail stores.
Pioneer is an amazing manufacture but needs to put foot down on internet sites on their pricing below retail. Eight ball them if they sell below retail. You sell quaility act like its quaility and support price margins. I Will never support internet, never. Major disrespect to the car audio industry. Killing the retailers.
that is why I am a pioneer only store. $1.2 mill a year with three units on display.
“we know what you want”
Less paralysis by analysis too. I’d have 3 single and 3 double din. Good, better, best. That’s it, move on.
