Ford revealed its technology plans for the next few years, which includes embedding 4G LTE in its entire lineup of vehicles by 2020.

With 4G connections, Ford can issue over the air updates to parts of the car, not just the SYNC system.

Waze navigation will also be built in to infotainment systems.

Ford also joined other car makers in announcing aggressive electric vehicle and hybrid plans including a plug-in hybrid for the upcoming F150, Mustang, Bronco, Escape, and Explorer.

Toyota is planning more than 10 electric vehicles by 2020 and General Motors plans to have double that amount by 2023.

Ford also announced a driver safety platform that will be rolled out as standard equipment to most of its SUVs and trucks by 2020.

Called the Co-Pilot360, the driver safety system includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot avoidance,  lane keeping, automatic high-beam headlamps and backup cameras, said Engadget.
