VISTA, CA – Directed today announced new features for its industry-leading SmartStart product that streamline the installation and onboarding process for dealers and consumers. The new Grace Period feature allows consumers to immediately start using their new SmartStart systems once the installer has completed their normal web activation process.

Geoff Weathersby, VP of Connected Car at Directed commented, “Key Directed retailers told us they were seeing their customers stack up in the store late in the day waiting to pick up completed SmartStart systems, because of the need for their store staff to walk the consumer through the service plan purchase process before they could use their new system. With Grace Period there is no need for that; the consumer has two days to complete the service purchase process and has full use of their system in the meantime.”

Making things easier for installers, Directed has added a new set of SmartStart tools in the revamped Directechs web site. In the past, if an installer needed to test the cellular or GPS performance of the device, or correct an error in keying in the consumer’s email, they had to contact Directed Technical Support. With the new SmartStart Toolbox, the installer can quickly and easily take care of those issues. The new tools also let the installer know which Directed serial format is being used by the SmartStart device, simplifying any needed troubleshooting with the connected security or remote start system.

“Our retailers are key partners in the connected car space, and we’re committed to working with them to constantly improve our SmartStart products and ecosystem”, said Weathersby. “With these new features up and running, we’re looking forward to a smooth and successful 2018 season.”
