Automotive Integration Solutions (AIS) announced it is shipping a plug and play add-on CD player that works with certain factory radios that lack a CD player mechanism.

Dozens of car models, including popular Honda and Toyota vehicles, ship without a CD player. IHS Automotive predicts that by 2021, a quarter of cars will lack a CD drive. But millions of people still listen to CDs.

AIS’s new USBCD1 works with certain GM, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Volvo and KIA factory radios. It provides full control over the CD player through the factory radio touch screen.

The unit is compact and lightweight and can be mounted either vertically or horizontally, said AIS. Suggested retail price is $349.

Automotive Integration Solutions is a 3 1/2 year old OEM integration supplier of backup camera, navigation and Bluetooth kits, and other car audio products.

The line is owned by distributor Vickers AV, Marietta, GA.
