First Motorcycle DSP Now Shipping

Arc-PSM

What may be the first digital signal processor/integration device aimed mainly at motorcycles just began shipping from Arc Audio.

The new PSM is smaller than your palm; it’s weather resistant and lets you overcome factory DSP found in motorcycles or other vehicles.

Harley Davidson bikes can come with built-in time delay that requires an OEM integration device to recreate a clean signal usable for aftermarket amplifiers and speakers.

“The Harley Davidson 2014 and up motorcycles come with an equalization curve. If you turn up the sound it will blow the speakers,” said Arc manufacturer’s rep Phil Cartier.  “It’s a 24dB boost at 150Hz. They do an eq curve so it sounds good on the dealership floor…”

The unit can also be tucked behind the dashboard in car audio installs, said Arc Audio.

It performs channel summing, time delay, has full multi-crossovers and is basically a slimmed down Arc Audio PS8 processor.

It has high level inputs and comes pre-programmed for use with Harleys but it can be programmed for any vehicle via a PC.

Other specifications include: 6 channel input and 6-channel output with 42 bands of parametric eq (7 per channel) with adjustable Q and frequency.

The device also works with an LR1 remote control that acts as a bass remote or full volume control.

Suggested retail price is $409.

Other specs include an eq resolution of 1/10th dB per step +24dB/-24dB and signal delay of up to 5ms per channel in .02ms per step.
