The Mobile Electronics Specialists of America (MESA) buying/marketing group announced Harman Electronics as a new vendor partner. The group will carry Harman’s new Navdy portable or installed car heads up display (HUD).

Harman, which recently became a subsidiary of Samsung,  also specializes in automotive connected smartphones, said MESA in a statement Thursday.

MESA said it is particularly excited about the Navdy. The HUD provides directions, handsfree calls, texts, and music control.  It uses gesture control so users can “swipe” away a call in the air.

“We are very excited to be partnered with such an innovative company as Harman,” said Ryan Gunter, MESA Executive Director, “and we are looking forward to their continued innovation of new 12 Volt products that will drive consumers into our Member stores”.

Shawn Spedding, Harman Director of Sales said, “We are very excited to be involved with M.E.S.A. Group and the experienced specialty retailers assembled. JBL, Infinity and Navdy are a great fit for the Tech Solutions category and a focus for Harman which we feel is a growing necessary category for the 12v Specialists to embrace. It is our strategy to bring to market world class products with unmatched performance and reliability that the 12v specialist can take to market with confidence and be profitable doing so.”

MESA is holding its annual Summit in Broomfield, CO, September 18-21.

As of earlier this year, MESA claimed 136 retail members covering 42 states. Its members’ sales in car audio and electronics totals $287 million.

Other MESA vendor partners include Kenwood, Pioneer, JL Audio, Rockford Fosgate, Hertz, Audison, Compustar, Directed, Echomaster, VOXX, Jensen, Scosche, PAC, iSimple, AAMP of America, Atrend, AudioControl, Escort, SolarGard, Roadwire, Race Sport, SiriusXM, Waylens and others.
