More evidence that infotainment screens are increasing in size can be found in the Mercedes-Benz announcement that it will show at CES 2021 its first full dashboard-wide screen.
Its new curved MBUX Hyperscreen will span the length of the car’s dashboard and it will take infotainment functions “to a new level” with the use artificial intelligence (AI) that is “capable of learning,” said Daimler.
The screen will be available as an option in the all-electric EQS luxury sedan. The company will announce the MBUX Hyperscreen’s functions and features just prior to CES in January, and the screen will be on view at CES to virtual showgoers.
A dashboard-wide screen system is offered by Honda in Europe, but it is made up of several integrated screens, while the Mercedes version is a single super-wide screen, said TechRadar. The Honda screen is available on the e EV that puts an 8.8 inch TFT instrument display in front of the driver with additional dual 12.3 inch LCDs.
