Midwest Sales New President

Following the untimely death of long time manufacturer’s rep Steve Fahlmark of Midwest Sales Group, Yorkville, IL, the company announced that Fahlmark’s son Max will take over the business.

All Midwest Sales brands have agreed to continue to be represented by Midwest sales, said Max.

The younger Fahlmark, in his early 20s, had just this year launched his own rep firm, Fahlmarketing, representing new car audio brand Aunex and Pro Audio brands such as stageClix, distributed by Atrend.

With the passing of his father Steve at 54, November 12, Max is considering retaining Fahlmarketing as well as Midwest sales although he may convert Fahlmarkting to a Pro Audio rep firm that is not related to car audio. Max is a drummer and so has interests in music as well as car audio.

Midwest sales said Steve Fahlmark started in the industry more than 30 years ago. Like many, he was a young car stereo enthusiast and turned his passion into a career, which eventually led to starting his own rep firm. Max has worked with his father, calling on retailers since he was 14. “I’ve gotten a lot of support from the dealer base, because I’ve worked with them over the years,” he said.

His hope is to continue to upgrade the digital capabilities of Midwest Sales, including automating the system to communicate with dealers, set up new dealers, and to help dealers with marketing. “I’m seeking to help dealers with a 2020 mindset of doing online marketing…all these things I started this summer with my dad. I want to help expand the digital footprint of the business,” he said.

Max had said earlier this year that as Gen Z’er, part of his aim is to help bring more young people into the car audio market and help dealers and suppliers to reach the younger audience.

“My heart is broken, and I know I have big shoes to fill, but I am committed to carrying on the vision my father had for Midwest Sales Group.” he said, adding of his father, “His customers and brand partners, like family, meant the world to him and he showed it every day.  I wish with all my heart that I didn’t have to take this position like this, however I appreciate the opportunity and support that has come from our brand partners and customers.  My father taught me that to be the best, you have to hustle and put the work in. No shortcuts. I am determined to honor his teachings and memory. Thank you all for the kindness and understanding extended to me and my family at this time.  I will never forget it.”

Midwest Sales Group serves the Illinois and Wisconsin territories. Brands represented include JL Audio, Clarion, JVC, Focal, Boss, Atrend, Dynamat, Naxa, Bazooka, Race Sport, Sublue and Divoom.

Midwest Sales Group’s back office will continue to be supported by Mara Bommeiman who has worked with Steve and Max for many years.
