Metra Electronics is shipping a universal kit for the Pioneer 8-inch floating radio.
The kit allows Pioneer’s radio with the detachable 8 inch floating screen to fit in more than 250 vehicle applications dating back to 1990, said Metra.
Kit model 108-UN02 uses a series of brackets to position the screen in front of the car’s original radio opening. It also provides brackets for the hideaway radio chassis.
“This patent-pending solution will allow installers to stock one part that adapts the Pioneer DMH-C5500NEX to work with many of Metra’s existing dashboard kits they already have in their store and enable installation into a wide range of vehicles,” says Jason Anderson, Metra VP of Product Research and Development.
The 108-UN02 is expected to begin shipping by the end of October and will be on display at SEMA Show booth 11639 in the North Hall from November 5th – 8th.
