Bose announced what it calls its “most powerful and highest performing sound system ever for a sports car.”
The 14-speaker system is available on the all new 2020 Corvette Stingray. Breaking with history, Chevy moved the Stingray engine from the front of the sports car to the middle. This required re-configuring the audio to match the new cabin design.
The 14 speakers represents the most Bose has ever put into a two-seater. The system includes Chevy’s first use of Bose Advanced Staging Technology to produce a wide sound stage with detailed separation between instruments and vocals.
The Bose Nd 10-inch woofers are invisible and use the door itself as the bass enclosure, instead of the typical bass box. Also, instead of placing speaker grilles over the woofers, which could bother the legs of the drivers and passenger when cornering at high speeds, Chevy designed a smooth, padded surface for the interior door panel.
To overcome roaring engine noise, The Bose Performance Series uses microphones built into the cabin to continuously monitor noise levels and a Bose algorithm to analyze and adjust the music signal. “Because of the power and lightning-quick acceleration of the new Corvette Stingray, this application of AudioPilot [noise compensation] requires faster processing than ever before,” said Bose.
In addition to the 10-inch woofers, the Bose system uses 2.5-inch and 3.25-inch neodymium Twiddler speakers along the instrument panel, plus 4-inch neodymium speakers and 1-inch neodymium tweeters in each upper door. A pair of 5.25-inch neodymium speakers and three additional 3.25-inch neodymium Twiddler speakers are in the rear of the cabin.
The system also delivers 360-degree sound at each seat through a processor in the amplifier with 16 channels of custom equalization.
The Bose Performance Series system will be available as an option on the 2020 Corvette Stingray. A 10-speaker Bose Premium surround-sound system will be offered as standard equipment.

They can use rate of acceleration to know how much fake engine noise to pump into the cabin by seeing how loaded the engine is!
What exactly does the rate of acceleration have to do with how quickly the nose cancellation has to work? Answer: nothing.
What I love about Bose is their fearlessness to utilize technology to improve on the status quo I recently acquired Bose soundwear as a stroke survivor with numerous deficits it’s a perfect solution for me

Never underestimate Bose. Long ago in a land far away, when I was at a rep conference for Alpine, Glenn Ihrke hired a company to call 10-20,000 households and ask them what car audio brands they were familiar with. Bose and Delco were the top two. The next day on the flight home the guy next to me invariably asked what I did for a living. I said, “I’m in the car stereo business.” I then asked him what brands were familiar to him. Dean Leach looked at me from across the aisle, hand on his forehead in anticipation of the answer. He answered, “Bose – isn’t that a good brand?”
