SiriusXM owns an advanced car tracking-crash assistance company called Automatic Labs, which it purchased in 2017.  It now has a new Automatic package it is offering it though Best Buy, Car Toys, Crutchfield and Amazon.

The satellite radio maker is also offering Automatic’s new Connected Car Assistant through car audio retail specialists.

The platform includes an OBD2 adapter and an app. It can be offered to all customers who don’t have a GM vehicle with OnStar, said the company.

For $99, users get 6 months of crash alert assistance in the event of an accident, roadside assistance, and real time vehicle location and tracking.  The system lets parent know where their teen drivers are and if they’ve been in an accident.  It also provides engine light diagnostics and vehicle performance monitoring.

The system also integrates with home devices so you can set it to automatically to turn on the heat or AC when you are 10 miles from home.  And it provide cashless toll payment processing in select states.

After six months you can continue to use the system at no charge for 3 years with a basic service that includes crash alert, vehicle/engine light diagnostics and driving history.  Or users can pay $5/month for the continued full premium package.
