Hyundai has developed a new in-cabin car feature that it expects to tie into its car radios.

The car maker announced last week it developed an advanced air purification system with a readout display that appears on the car radio screen.

The air purification system is unusual in that it continually monitors the air quality in the cabin and filters it, where most other systems simply purify the air for a set period and then turn off.

Hyundai’s system displays the status of the air quality on the car radio screen in the form of a 16-bar digital display that fluctuates in real-time. It will show whether the air quality is Excellent, Good, Fair and Poor. The system activates automatically if the air quality falls to a “Fair” level.

The Car Connection says Hyundai is looking into putting the system in new Hyundai and Kia vehicles in the future, but it has not confirmed production yet.
