Alpine Unique Feature Due in Summer

Alpine Ships New Halo Car Radios

Alpine is expected to announce this summer an update to its SiriusXM radio capability.  Through a USB update, it will convert consumers to 360L, becoming the first aftermarket head unit supplier to link to the new service.

While the update will occur via USB, in the future Alpine will offer over-the-air (OTA) updates for various features, with details to follow later this year, said the company. To the best of our knowledge, Pioneer is the only other aftermarket head unit supplier offering OTA updates.

With 360L, there are an extra 1oo+ channels that users can stream if they have a hotspot connection in the car (or on their phone), in addition to satellite radio channels.  So instead of just the 90s Channel on SiriusXM, as an example, you now also get “90s Work Out Channel” and “90s Greatest Hits Channel” and various other subchannels.  360L users can also stream from 10,000 hours of the SiriusXM library on demand, for live performances, special interviews and other programs.

On the OEM side, dozens of vehicles offer 360L (see below).

SiriusXM also offers an add-on receiver with 360L called The Tour.

The Alpine radios impacted by the summer update include the ilX-F509,   iLX-F511,  iLX-F507 and the Jeep Wrangler-specific i509-WRA-JK and i509-WRA-JL.

Among the carmakers offering SiriusXM 360L are General Motors, Audi, BMW, Stellantis (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep & more), and Volkswagen.
