Most Advanced Rear Seat System?

Most Advanced Rear Seat Video

There are rear seat video systems and then there’s a 31-inch overhead due this year from BMW in the 7 Series.  It’s got voice control, 5G, and 8K resolution.

With Fire TV users can stream in 4K UHD via Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO Max, YouTube and Twitch, says CNET.

Somehow the screen folds back into the roof, and the roof itself is a full piece of glass. A sunshade can close over the roof for protection.

Additional 5.5-inch touch panels to control the  TV and climate settings are embedded in each rear door.

The TV is touchscreen and it can slide to different positions.  It shows video in 16:9, 21:9, or 32:9 ratios.

The video system is joined by audio in the form of a 655-watt Bowers & Wilkins system with 18 speakers. Or there’s an optional step-up version with 36 speakers and a 1,965-watt amplifier.  This is called the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround System and it includes four speakers in the headliner and two surround speakers in each headrest.  Exciters are also embedded in the seats so they vibrate to match the audio.

The video system will be available on the electric i7 too, so users can watch movies while waiting to charge up.

Of course, there’s plenty going on in the front seat, with a curved dashboard display that includes a 12.3-inch information display behind the steering wheel and a 14.9-inch control screen.

The driver and front passenger can also watch video on demand on the dash screen via YouTube, with other services to be added in the future.

The 7 Series will be available at the end of the year and pre-order sales began this week.  The BMW Theater Screen is expected to cost around $5,000.

The base price for the 7 Series is around $94,000.
