Some GM Customers Get Free Year of OnStar
General Motors is offering a free year of OnStar to people who purchased a vehicle from which the heated seat feature was deleted due to a shortage of semiconductor chips,  reports GM Authority. As we reported earlier, GM announced in November that certain vehicles would ship without heated seats and heated steering wheels in an effort to conserve semiconductor chips, which are in short supply.

Owners of such vehicles will get 12 months free of OnStar’s Remote Access plan.

To be clear, these same vehicle owners will be able to return to the dealership in the second quarter next year to have the missing chip inserted to restore heated seat function, GM recently announced.
