Remote Start Shortage Update

Remote Start Shipments

Leading remote start vendors say they continue to air freight in product with shipments expected in the coming weeks.

VOXX said it will bring in remote start (both VOXX and Directed) into January and February next year and is effectively delivering product to dealers on a just-in-time basis.

“We’ve been airing in product.  We still have a lot of backorder, but we’re getting enough to keep guys in stock. It’s almost just-in-time inventory,” said Aron Demers, Senior VP, VOXX Electronics.

Firstech is receiving Compustar remote start shipments in the next 4 to 6 weeks and hopes to fill backorders dating back to earlier in the season.  “We’ve seen the cold season start later and end later over the past couple of years.  We’ve seen continued enthusiasm for remote start through March.  We have shipments coming in in the next 4 to 6 weeks to keep up with demand,” said Marketing Director Justin Lee.

Smaller vendors say they have inventory in stock.  Fortin says it is in a good inventory position and the shortages haven’t affected the company. Sales have been solid so far, said Jean Paul Raymond.

Magnadyne, which returned to the remote start market this year, said it is in good supply with more shipments to come.
