Educar car audio magazine debuts

A new online magazine for members of the car audio industry will launch next month by Educar, the parent brand of Educar Training, Educar Labs, and the Educar TestTune smartphone app.

Educar magazine will be educational, with an emphasis on “the business of great car audio,” said Ken Ward, Principal of Educar, noting the magazine will include information for salespeople as well as installers. “We are looking to provide value for anyone in our profession,” he added.

“We want to overcome the limitations of print and realize the benefits of the online existence – more images, more text when we need it, and presentation on multiple devices,” said Peter Wheeler of Revelocity, Educar’s digital partner in the magazine.

The magazine will include a Project of the Month, with a breakdown of an installation sale. “We will look at the intent of the project, the success at achieving the objectives, and the return on the investment required to execute the plan,” said Ward. The debut issue also features:

  • An in-depth interview with Manville Smith, VP of JL Audio
  • Andy Wehmeyer of Audiofrog on the simplest tool for tuning cars
  • A complete review and test of the Kicker KEYLOC OEM interface
  • Patrick Rollins of Musicar Northwest with a fabrication project in a Porsche Cayenne

Educar Magazine is funded by advertising, and is free of charge for industry members. “There is a brief registration questionnaire, and we anonymize it after you fill it out – it’s just the standard way for advertisers to know the demographics of our readership,” explained Ward.

“Posts on social media on things like tuning and acoustics and OEM integration…are often very popular when you write something on social media, but that’s very transitory.  You saw something on Tuesday and now it’s Thursday and you can’t find it.  So the idea here is to offer instructional and beneficial content that is also persistent. When you want to look up an article on tuning and acoustics you can go to our site and see everything written on that topic,” said Ward.
