The top story and the stop 10 stories in CEoutlook this year were not what you might expect.
The number one story, with over 10,000 clicks reflected interest in an aftermarket version of Tesla-style radios.
There was also a remarkable amount of interest in Soundstream’s double screen VRN-DD7HB radio.
Pioneer’s lower cost CarPlay radios, announced early in the year, received a lot of attention as well.
If we were to summarize 2017, it was a year that powersports audio spiked in sales and the product offering in UTV and motorcycle audio expanded.
We saw a broader adoption of digital signal processors (DSPs) as more consumers elect to keep their factory radio when adding amplifiers and speakers.
A new kind of amplifier interface emerged that installs between the head unit and factory amp, making it even easier to keep the factory radio.
CarPlay continued to decline in price and the first wireless CarPlay radio arrived from Alpine.
We expect all these trends to continue into 2018, with new ones to emerge at CES next month.
